Passion

I have a passion for people. As an accountant, yes I will be working with numbers and I have a strong passion for accuracy and this profession, but more importantly I have a passion for people. For me, it is important to remember that my clients are people. I don’t want to work with corporations or pieces of paper; I want to work with people and the people who create the paper. It is important to humanize relationships. God has called me to be his vessels here on earth and I plan to do that in every aspect of my life. I feel a calling and a passion for accounting, but beyond that I have a responsibility as a human and a Christian to look out for other people’s interests, to help and to serve others.

I am passionate about standing up for people and defending those who cannot defend themselves. I think education is a key component to improving a persons life and if we educate others and teach them how to succeed then they will be able to go far. I am passionate about learning, teaching others and growing. There is always something new to learn and if we impart the knowledge we have been given to others then we will all continue to grow as a whole.

Another thing that I am passionate about is social injustice. I think that is why I am so passionate about learning, helping others, and standing for what is right. In my life, no matter what success I find and achieve I want to always give back and help those who are in need. Growing up, my family faced financial difficulties. We lived in an area where we weren't offered the best education but my parents made sure that we were able to get the most out of it and eventually we moved to an area with better schools. Growing up in predominantly latino community I saw the struggle people went through. Most kids at the school were first generation immigrants and with the language barrier and schools not offering the quality education they needed, they fell behind. Education is one of the best way to fix the social injustice going on in our country. I have a passion for educational justice and believe that all people not matter who they are or where they come from deserve equal education. I find it important to seek the things that God seeks and to defend those who need it.

Mathew 25:35-40 says, "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me."

As you think about your passions and things that are important to you, are there ways your calling and profession collide?
